And From Your Ashes I Arise Ch 2

By N.Z. Robotewske

“Maysasura?” I asked. “Who is Maysasura?”

Ah, he is small but big” was his reply.

“Oh, like Mighty Mouse?”

She insulted the girl in front of me.

I was shocked–but this time prepared.

“Is this what you meant when you said, ‘She is hard on me….’?

Because now I clearly see.”

I asked for the girl’s help in the kitchen.

“Oh. She burns e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!”

There was an urgency in her voice as if this was important information that I must now know if dinner wasn’t to be ruined by the incompetent little girl.

Dinner, by the way, was excellent.

“I was just joking. This is just who I am you know me better than that….”

Insults aren’t funny.

The girl told me

She loves her mother

And knows she is just trying to do her best.

She wishes they could be closer.

But

Mother is pushing away Daughter

(The way her own mother did with her)

With the unkind things she says.

And she doesn’t even know it.

I hope she knows it now.

I too wish they could be closer.

When she turned,

looked at me

and said–

“What the fuck am I doing…?”

I knew I found

A kindred soul.

Others may lead by example.

You show

others the way–

Because only when you’ve looked

Into darkness–

Can you truly know light.

And you shine…

To be continued…

  1. Sigh, i guess without darkness we can’t know light, and darkness helps us appreciate the light, indeed. Words hurt more than physical bullying, they seep into the soul. However, I think ultimately someone’s cruel words is more a reflection on their own darkness. Beautiful post, written nicely. Thanks for writing :).

    1. I can’t help but think that’s why we are here playing out this cosmic drama-and in the end-whenever that end may be-we come to appreciate what we struggled so hard against.
I love the image and the idea of renewal-rising from the ashes. By no means easy.

      1. This life is weird, we don’t know sometimes why all this pain and is it really necessary! So at the end we must search for the lessons and move on…just because we don’t have another choice

  2. Sometimes weak minded people have to put others down in order for themselves for feel good by comparison. Insecure people are like that sometimes.

    1. Yeah. Sadly it’s true. Hopefully, we all can learn and grow—stop the behavior before it affects another generation. Thank you for reading and connecting, Tom. Chapter 3 was tough for me to write…but chapter 4 is probably my favorite 🙂
